Long revered for its man-stopping knockdown power, the .45 ACP cartridge reaches a whole new level of performance with our 160 gr. Solid Copper Hollow Point (SCHP) at an honest 1,200 fps. Expansion is reliable and dramatic, typically .900 caliber, and bullets display a six-petal sharp profile from pre-fluted grooves in the bullet nose to dictate the expansion and shape. As much as we respect our Super Vel 185 gr. JHP load (also a +P loading, like the 160 gr. SCHP) we have to confess— the 160 gr. SCHP is a better load. Solid copper bullets are “barrier blind” so unlike a conventional jacketed-lead combination, a solid copper bullet penetrates right through sheetrock, plywood, car doors, windshield glass and heavy clothing
