Ballistic Advantage AR-15 barrels come in a great variety of chamberings, lengths, and contours, so you are certain to find the exact barrel you need for any type of rifle you are building or upgrading. These barrels are precision machined from extra-strong 4150 chrome-moly-vanadium steel alloy and have a nickel-boron coated barrel extension with M4 feed ramps to help ensure reliable feeding and extraction. The Government, M4, and SPR, and DMR profiles are all well-known among AR-15 aficionados. All barrels are chambered in 5.56 NATO, so they accept both military-type 5.56x45mm and civilian .223 Remington ammo.The DRP (Distinct Rigid Profile) is a stocky profile designed for short pistol / SBR barrels. On their longer AR-15 barrels, the Ballistic Advantage folks eliminated sharp shoulders and smoothed the tapers to symmetrically limit barrel “whip” caused by vibrations and flexing during prolonged shooting. This also controls barrel harmonics, so the barrel returns quickly to its “home” position after each shot – highly beneficial for follow up shots at a high rate of fire or even full-auto fire.
