Description
If you keep a 20 Gauge shotgun for home defense, then you’ve already given some thought to your home defense strategy. You’re willing to part with a little “stopping power†in exchange for reduced recoil and easier handling. But when you choose Federal Premium Personal Defense ammo, you’re choosing to forfeit as little stopping power as possible!
rThis shell is loaded with #2 buckshot. Not #2 shot, mind you, but #2 buckshot, which is about 45% lighter than a more conventional 00 buck pellet. #2 buck’s smaller size enables the shell to blast 10 individual pieces at a velocity of 1,325 fps. If you count it as one projectile, this shell’s shot column has around 1,150 ft lbs muzzle energy (i.e. almost as powerful as a 223 Rem).
rThis shell has three design features to promote tighter patterning, and therefore inflict more harmful wound channels. The shot pellets are made of lead, but plated with copper which strengthens them against deformation. The shot column contains granulated buffering (basically little plastic beads which absorb recoil energy before it can deform shot). The shot column is also cradled by the FliteControl, which Federal specifically designed for tight-patterning performance.
