Description
What does “NATO†stand for? Is it “Not Always Teaching Orangutans?†Or “Nefarious Aardvarks Tickling Octopi?†NO! It stands for “North Atlantic Treaty Organization†– an outfit which, among other things, has its own specifications for 9mm ammunition.
rSAAMI sets the highest pressure a 9mm cartridge can generate at 35,000 psi. NATO sets it a touch higher: 36,500 psi, which is why their 9mm ammo recoils a little harder, produces a slightly flatter trajectory, and hits a little harder as well.
rAside from its ~4% higher max chamber pressure, Winchester’s 9mm NATO ammo is indistinguishable from their usual USA series 9mm 124 grain full metal jacket ammunition. These rounds’ nonmagnetic FMJ projectiles, never-before-chambered reloadable brass cases, and clean-burning explodey bits will all meet your standards if you already approve of “white box†ammo. And since this isn’t +P ammo (which is loaded to a max pressure of 38,500 psi), it’s not quite as hard on the firearm!
