Description
Longbow, Inc. was founded by Vietnam War veteran and defense contractor John Mullins. While instructing tactical teams for close-quarters operations he saw a great need for affordable training ammo that also offered a higher degree of safety. He thus developed a nontoxic and completely frangible bullet that would virtually eliminate the production of airborne carcinogens as well as the risk of a ricochet.
rRUAG purchased Longbow, Inc. about 10 years ago, but a fair amount of Longbow’s original ammunition remains available. This 5.56×45 ammo is optimal for shooters training for close-quarters combat with steel targets, as its bullet disintegrates the instant it connects with any surface harder than itself. It is also suitable for training in indoor ranges where the accumulation of aerosolized lead could pose a health hazard.
rThis round’s frangible bullet has a flat nose profile, making it easy to distinguish by sight alone. Each round is brass cased and Boxer primed, making it an especially worthwhile investment for handloading enthusiasts. We have not measured this ammo’s bullet weight or muzzle velocity.
