rThis cartridge is rigged out with a 240 grain semi-jacketed hollow point. The SJHP’s partial jacket serves to reduce lead fouling of the barrel, and it also keeps the bullet from tearing itself to pieces during high-velocity impact. But because its jacket leaves the SJHP’s soft lead core bare around its nose cavity, it allows wider expansion while the bullet is traveling with less momentum behind it.
rEven if the SJHP retains too little energy to commence terminal expansion, its blunt nose profile inflicts a deadlier wound channel than a regular round nose FMJ or LRN could have. The flat nose bullet is A-OK for lever guns as well!
