rThis is a subsonic cartridge, with a 1,050 fps muzzle velocity that won’t break the sound barrier. That means no sharp, cracking report that will unsettle the neighbors or hurt your eardrums (but we always advise wearing hearing protection nevertheless). Its subsonic velocity also means this ammo almost certainly won’t cycle a semi-automatic.
rThis cartridge’s 40 grain segmented hollow point bullet doesn’t play fair with small game. Instead of expanding like a traditional HP, the SHP splits apart into three equally sized pieces. Each one excavates its own little lethal wound channel. Penetration depth is inadequate for self-defense applications, but right on the money if you’re ever shooting down a squirrel or other rodent-type critter!
