rFederal loads this particular Tactical TRU 223 Rem ammo with Sierra’s super-accurate MatchKing projectiles. Make no mistake: although it does resemble a jacketed hollow point, the MatchKing is not capable of terminal expansion and is not intended for hunting. Its jacket is too thin to enable very deep penetration, but it is extremely concentric to promote peak gyroscopic stability. The heavyweight 69 grain bullet also features a injection-molded lead core which begets even greater stability, as well as a boat tail to ensure higher velocity retention downrange – key if you’re firing outdoors where it’s windy.
rBy our measure, this ammo has a G1 0.306 (G7 0.154 G7) ballistic coefficient. No transonic destabilization until approximately 800 yards, so you can really reach out and touch your target!
