Description
This 223 Rem cartridge from Federal’s Tactical TRU line of ammunition is pretty much the last word on self-defense with an urban semi-automatic rifle. It features a 55 grain Ballistic Tip by Nosler, a projectile that delivers both great accuracy and effective terminal results.
rThe Ballistic Tip’s polymer tip is hard enough to avert becoming deformed while in the magazine. Its profile along with that of its tapered jacket promotes a flat trajectory in flight, as does its ballistically efficient boat tail base. Said base is formed of a thick portion of jacket, which prevents deformation during ignition.
rWhen the Ballistic Tip enters its target, its tip is driven deeply within its lead alloy core to commence rapid expansion. The bullet’s jacket is shaped in such a way that benefits its ability to retain weight, letting it tunnel deeply within its target. The aforementioned heavy jacketed base serves as a platform upon which especially wide expansion can occur. The net result is a bullet which no one would want bearing down on them at several thousand feet per second.
rFederal’s brass casing feeds and extracts reliably in a semi-automatic weapon, and their consistent primer and propellant do even more to promote smooth cycling. An absolute must if your AR-15 factors into your plan for home defense.
