Description
If you haven’t seen a soft point cutting edge bullet before, join the club! And if you’re already a member of the 30-06 Springfield appreciator club, then you’ll be able to witness the SPCE’s deadly terminal ballistics firsthand next deer season!
rIf you yank this round’s 180 grain SPCE out of its factory-fresh reloadable brass case, you would see that its base is cylindrical. The bullet’s profile transitions to an ogive starting at the rim of the cylinder – aka the “cutting edge.†This protrusion serves two purposes. First, it enables the bullet to carve a slightly wider entry wound into the animal. Second, it physically secures the copper-alloy jacket to its solid lead core (similar to the InterLock ring featured in some Hornady bullets). Once the SPCE’s tip meets resistance from soft tissue, it flattens down to inflict a wound column significantly wider than 0.308â€.
rThis ammunition hails from the Czech Republic, where it was loaded to C.I.P. specs that shouldn’t pose any issues for an American rifle (barring the M1 Garand; do not fire this ammo in one of those). The nonmagnetic bullet’s 0.353 G1 ballistic coefficient and 2,641 fps MV (23.5†test barrel) beget -4.1†drop at 200 yards (100-yard zero).
