rThis shell’s shot column may seem light at first glance, especially given its 3 inch length. Its 3/8 oz. payload makes more sense when you consider steel’s lower density (relative to lead, that is). It’s not all bad, though. This shell contains considerably more individual #7.5 shot pellets than it would if it were loaded with 3/8 oz. lead. Steel pellets are also much harder, and keep a narrow spread because of it. And since this shell really rockets its shot out of the barrel – 1,400 fps muzzle velocity, which you would never get from a factory lead load – it still supplies a reasonable lead time before throwing plenty of deadly energy downrange.
