This 25 ACP cartridge is from Hornady’s Critical Defense line of ammunition. Because it’s wholly within the realm of possibility that you might one day have to defend yourself in the dark, this round is loaded with a low flash propellant that will spare you from being blinded after firing your first shot. Its brass casing is additionally plated with nickel, giving it the enhanced visibility needed for a spontaneous chamber check while you’re in dim lighting.
rIt’s this round’s 35 grain projectile that causes it to really shine, though. The FTX’s hollow cavity is fitted with a cylindrical Flex Tip that serves two functions: the prevention of the hollow from jamming up with fabric during penetration, and the initiation of rapid expansion upon impact. This bullet penetrates deeply thanks to its InterLock ring which promotes weight retention, and widens to substantially greater than its original diameter in order to neutralize a threat fast.
