Federal’s Black Cloud loads have recently received an update in component quality, granting them greater performance at long range. Each 12 gauge shell is loaded with potent powder which burns consistently, even in cold weather, and produces a muzzle velocity of 1,500 feet per second thanks the propellant capacity afforded by the shotshell’s 3-inch format. The shell’s metallic head is plated with black nickel for enhanced corrosion resistance in wetland environments.
rThe 12 gauge shell hosts 1-1/4 ounces of large BB sized steel shot which do serious damage to ducks and geese; terminal results are further enhanced by Federal’s Flitestopper pellets which make up 40% of the load; Flitestoppers have a raised belt with a sharp edge which increases wound size for more efficient energy transfer and humane kills on big birds. Federal packs the pellets into their Flitestopped Flex wad which can move through ported chokes without shedding and helps to keep patterns tighter for greater shot cloud density out to long ranges.
