Description
It can be difficult to find high-quality 12 Gauge #4 buck ammunition, but the effort is well worth it. Those smaller shot pellets provide the denser pattern which makes it easier to take down a deer or coyote in thick brush, which is why hunters who stalk their game in the woods are going to appreciate what Winchester has made for them right here.
rIts smaller shot does not make this a less powerful shotshell by any stretch of the imagination. Its loaded with a lot of #4 buck pellets – 27 total, which weigh approximately 1.25 ounces altogether. Its 1,325 fps muzzle velocity gives the shell a dram equivalent of 3-3/4, and also inflicts more than 2,000 ft lbs of kinetic energy to a target at very close range.
rMany would consider this shell’s recoil energy a little too stout for home defense applications. If you’re firing a 7.5 lb Remington Model 870 Express, you can reasonably expect over 30 ft lbs of recoil energy. That’s about six times more recoil energy than a Glock 17.
rThis shell’s shot column is packed with granulated buffering. The supple little synthetic pellets sponge up recoil during ignition to help keep the shot pellets more spherical, more aerodynamic, and capable of patterning in tighter formation.
