Description
Is Fiocchi Steel Dove 12 Gauge ammunition designed for hunting small, robotic birds? No. That would be silly. What this ammo will do is allow you to hunt a broad variety of upland game – dove, of course, as well as quail, grouse, rabbit and squirrel – without inadvertently scattering little toxic lead granules all around the environment!
rThis shell does a couple of things differently. Instead of the #7.5 shot (0.095†diameter) which is commonly used for dove hunting, it is loaded with #7 shot (0.100†diameter). The larger steel shot pellets still weigh less than smaller lead pellets would have been, but their slightly greater diameter does give the steel pellets a little more heft and resultant momentum downrange. Furthermore, this round has an unusually fast 1,375 fps muzzle velocity. That helps less dense steel shot pellets to acquire and retain more kinetic energy that they can transfer to the quarry on impact.
rThis round’s wad is designed to help its perfectly spherical pellets pattern even more efficiently, as well as to reduce felt recoil. Fiocchi’s pretty semi-clear hulls hold non-corrosive primers and clean-burning powder, and they become reloadable once those explosives have been spent.
