rUpon firing, the wad takes some recoil away from the shooter and also protects the rifled slug from deformation while supporting its flare and pushing the plastic ball into the slug’s hollow base. The ball prevents the slug from folding in on itself and forces the rifling to engage the barrel’s surface for uniform spin stability. The 1-ounce slug is copper-plated to maintain its shape, aerodynamics, and ability to defeat thick hides and clothing but is still soft enough to flatten out in a target and deliver optimum energy to vital areas.
