This 12 Gauge shell from Federal’s Law Enforcement Tactical line of ammunition features a one ounce Hydra-Shok hollow point rifled slug. While Federal’s Hydra-Shok projectiles are more commonly associated with their handgun ammunition, this slug similarly satisfies FBI test protocol calling for rapid expansion with a significantly reduced chance of causing dangerous overpenetration. The slug owes its relative inability to overpenetrate largely to the wide and immediate expansion its hollow point begins to deliver upon impact. This slug’s rifling doesn’t stabilize its path in flight per se, but does compensate for any manufacturing irregularities that it may possess and also lessens how much it comes into contact with your shotgun’s smooth bore.
