rThis round’s projectile is designed to send all manners of medium game to bed early. Winchester recommends it for deer, antelope and black bear. (Totally up to you if you want to try this ammo out on elk in a free country.) The bullet owes its rapid yet controlled expansion to its polymer tip which commences it, as well as its copper jacket which grows progressively narrower toward the rim. The bullet’s jacket isn’t bonded, but its thicker rearward section does do a good job of keeping the lead-alloy core in place.
rAccuracy isn’t an issue with this ammo. The 170 grain bullet’s deformation resistant polymer tip, sleek jacket profile and thick, solid base boat tail all help keep drag in check. The G7 0.284 (G1 0.563) BC bullet strikes with at least 1,000 ft lbs energy within around 450 yards.
