rThis cartridge’s bullet offers a little extra compared to the vanilla FMJ that’s typically used for target shooting. The 123 grain open tip match bullet’s core was injected through the aperture in its nose while it was in liquid form. This means the OTM’s core is perfectly contoured to its jacket’s internal geometry so it can promote exceptional in-flight stability.
rThe OTM is an accuracy-first projectile. You can make good use of that for whacking varmints like ground squirrels and woodchucks, but the opening in its tip does not deliver the terminal expansion you would want while you’re taking medium-size game like deer.
