rThis round is loaded with an exceptionally heavy 460 grain bullet, and pushes it to a roaring-hot velocity of 1,850 fps. That’s why its muzzle energy is almost five times higher than that of a standard 44 Mag load! The round’s peppy propellant charge contributes to its walloping striking energy. So too does the bullet’s gas check, which improves ignition efficiency by forming a tight seal within the barrel.
rAs a hard cast, this round’s bullet is specifically designed not to deform or undergo terminal expansion. That’s a plus when you’re shooting a very large animal, as it prevents the bullet from penetrating to too shallow a depth to score a quick kill. The bullet’s flat nose profile does inflict pretty serious damage to any soft tissue it encounters, however. One well-placed shot will win the day!
