Description
This 40 S&W cartridge from Speer’s Gold Dot G2 line of ammunition features a technologically advanced 180 grain projectile. The bullet’s hollow point is shallow, and filled with a small lens of soft elastomer. When the bullet makes contact with its target, that elastomer is forced down into the bullet’s internal fissures to break them apart and yield even, devastating expansion.
rThe G2 keeps the original Gold Dot’s jacket, which is electrochemically fused to its structural plated and pressure formed core. So tough a bullet retains the virtual entirety of its weight as it penetrates barriers as substantial as sheetrock and steel, and because its jacket has been formed one molecule at a time it is exceptionally concentric to promote straight flight as well. The G2’s performance consistently dominates in the FBI testing protocol.
rThis round offers a nickel plated brass casing. Some contend that such a casing is not optimal for handloading, but its tendency to cycle more efficiently through a semi-automatic handgun makes it stellar for self-defense where reliability is key.
