Description
American Gunner ammo by Hornady is multi-talented. This single 40 S&W cartridge isn’t so deluxe that you’d hesitate to fire it unless your life was on the line. It’s a worthwhile choice for target practice. It’ll send varmints and small critters to the great beyond. But when your life is on the line, you’ll be glad to have it chambered indeed.
rThis round’s 180 grain XTP bullet exits a handgun’s 4†barrel at a velocity of 950 fps. It follows a flat flight path, as its concentric jacket and swaged lead core both offer good rotational stability. The brim of the XTP’s nose cavity is protected by its jacket, keeping it intact until it sinks into soft tissue. Once within a living body, the XTP’s notched jacket splits apart into even sections as its nose cavity goes to town converting several hundred foot-pounds of energy into wide expansion. The thicker portion of jacket at the base drives uniform expansion as well, bringing everything together to present one highly reliable bullet for personal protection.
rHornady seats a bullet of their own design and creation in a well-made brass case, with the uniform dimensions you’d want from a future handloading component. Each round’s primer and propellant are paired together to promote consistent recoil and point of aim, making American Gunner one of your best options for your EDC.
