Description
This 348 Win cartridge is from Hornady’s LEVERevolution line of ammunition. It owes its fittingness for use in a lever action rifle to its 200 grain FTX projectile’s Flex Tip, which is too soft to strike and ignite the primer it touches while loaded in a tubular magazine. The FTX’s tip further serves to initiate fast expansion, as it wedges deeply within the core upon impact, even at relatively low velocities.
rThe FTX couples the terminal performance and accuracy that a hunting bullet needs to be great. Its ability to expand is complemented greatly by its InterLock ring, which locks its high antimony lead core and specially engineered jacket together so that they can create a deep wound channel — for that reason the FTX is able to deliver as much as 40 percent more energy during penetration than a comparable flat point projectile could achieve. This bullet owes its ability to find its target not only to its aerodynamic Flex Tip, but also to its highly streamlined secant ogive profile. Furthermore, this round’s propellant creates an exceptionally fast 2,560 muzzle velocity in order to deliver a flat trajectory, but it doesn’t increase the chamber pressure to accomplish this.
