rWhen Hornady conducted Doppler testing, they confirmed that conventional polymer tips warp when they’re heated by air friction. Their answer to this problem was the Heat Shield, which keeps the ELD-X bullet’s tip safe from deforming and losing its streamlined point.
rThe ELD-X is balanced by its concentric AMP jacket and uniform lead core. It is streamlined by its boat tail and tip. Upon rocketing out of a 24†barrel at a rate of 2,850 fps, its 0.597 G1/0.310 G7 ballistic coefficient keeps the 200 grain .30 cal ELD-X supersonic until approximately 1,400 yards – a distance it reaches in just 2.37 seconds.
rThe ELD-X penetrates deeply thanks to its InterLock ring, which embeds its jacket within its core, and it delivers reliably lethal terminal expansion at ranges well beyond 400 yards.
