This 30-30 cartridge is from Hornady’s LEVERevolution line of ammunition. As its name would suggest, this round is a stellar choice to load in a a lever action rifle. It owes that to its 140 grain MonoFlex projectile’s patented elastomer Flex Tip, which won’t ignite the primer on the round in front of it if jostled within a tubular magazine.
rThe MonoFlex is made of copper alloy, and accordingly won’t foul your rifle’s bore with lead residue and is a safe bet if you’re hunting in California. The monolithic bullet isn’t capable of core and jacket separation, because it has neither — the result is no less than 95 percent weight retention during penetration and expansion! This bullet owes its superior accuracy in large part to its ballistically efficient secant ogive profile, as well as its Flex Tip which further serves to initiate rapid expansion upon impact.
rThis round’s propellant delivers a maximum muzzle velocity without creating an accordingly high chamber pressure, delivering a flat trajectory with great downrange energy. A fine choice for hunting no matter where you venture!
