rGetting hit with this cartridge’s full metal jacket projectile certainly wouldn’t be the best thing that could possibly happen to a whitetail, but its inability to expand or otherwise deform makes the FMJ’s terminal ballistics severely lacking as far as hunting medium game is concerned. The FMJ’s light 124 grain weight does make its muzzle velocity quite brisk at 2,500 feet per second, so you can expect fairly flat trajectories (even if they are relatively more vulnerable towind drift).
