Description
Winchester’s Deer Season XP label ammunition contains much more polymer than usual. That’s because the Extreme Point’s polymer tip comprises almost half of its frontal surface. Is it a gimmick? Not at all. It’s actually a boon to this 243 Win ammo’s accuracy and its stopping power!
rThe Extreme Point’s flat base, concentric jacket and balanced core all contribute to its high 0.369 G1 ballistic coefficient. So too does its colossal polymer tip, which stirs up very little drag as the bullet races toward its target. That’s why this round’s 95 grain Extreme Point conserves at least 1,000 ft lbs of energy until it reaches ~380 yards – and also why it drops just -6.6†at 300 yards after having cleared a 200-yard zero.
rSuch a large polymer tip quite naturally has a large-diameter base. That accelerates expansion to maximize impact trauma, thus delivering the wide wound channel that’ll knock any deer down for the count. Penetration isn’t a problem for the Extreme Point, either, as its tapered jacket and high-density alloyed lead core do a great job retaining weight throughout penetration. Brass-cased and reloadable!
