rThis round features the multi-talented InterLock. It is an accurate bullet thanks to its drag-reducing secant ogive profile and boat tail, as well as Hornady’s balanced and concentric copper jacket. The jacket’s InterLock ring and cannelure lock it into the core at two different latitudes, which prevents the degree of fragmentation that limits penetration depth. And when the InterLock bullet’s exposed lead tip connects with the target, its tapered jacket’s strategically placed inner grooves ensure wide and lethal terminal expansion.
rThis round’s 2,960 fps muzzle velocity (24†test bbl) gives its 100 grain bullet a G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.405. That manifests itself as -7.14†drop at 300 yards after passing through a 200-yard zero (assuming 1.5†sight height). Hornady doesn’t make centerfire rifle cartridges without high-quality and reliable-cycling reloadable brass cases.
