rThis cartridge sports a 45 grain bullet. It’s a lightweight that will achieve a fast muzzle velocity and deliver a flat trajectory. It will also become more susceptible to wind deflection downrange, and it lacks the momentum it would need in order to penetrate soft tissue very deeply. The jacketed hollow point will produce expansion immediately after impact, however, which makes its terminal ballistics spot-on for varmint hunting. Remington’s bullets do not contain steel, so you can freely fire them at ranges which prohibit ammo that can attract a magnet.
rUMC stands for United Metallic Cartridge Company. It’s a company Remington merged with many years ago. Today they just use it as one of their brand names. If you see the “R – P†headstamp on a cartridge, you can rest assured it’s noncorrosive Boxer-primed, brass-cased and reloadable!
