rThe V-MAX really gives you the accuracy requisite for pulverizing small game. The 50 grain bullet owes its exceptional gyroscopic stability to its nearly perfectly concentric Advanced Manufacturing Process jacket, as well as its uniformly balanced swaged lead core. It’s tip is a sharp and centered polymer spear that neatly parts aside air molecules, and enables the 0.242 G1 BC bullet to drop by just -7.4†100 yards downrange of a 200-yard zero (1.5†sight height).
rThe V-MAX doesn’t merely expand. It self-destructs. Once the polymer tip’s shaft has completed its short journey down the core’s precision nose cavity, it produces a seriously deadly hailstorm of lead and copper fragments. Hornady boasts that the V-MAX produces its desired effect even when its velocity is as low as 1,600 fps. This round’s bullet conserves at least half of its muzzle velocity until about 460 yards (assuming the bullet first achieves its billed 3,200 fps muzzle velocity).
