Description
The green paint on this 5.56×45 ammunition’s tips? It’s not there for cosmetic purposes. Green tells you this is Winchester’s M855 ammunition, with penetrator core bullets that plow through common urban barriers.
rThis round’s 62 grain full metal jacket projectile contains a seven-grain steel tip. It strengthens the bullet so it can pass through steel plating within a range of about 650 yards. On the outside the bullet is indistinguishable from an FMJ (save for its pretty green paint). It will function efficiently in any 5.56 semi-automatic rifle, and it’s great for target shooting, but its heavier weight is ideally suited to a 1:9 or 1:8 twist barrel.
rWinchester’s 5.56 ammunition is loaded with non-corrosive primers and newly minted brass cases. The military-grade rounds’ brass has not been polished, so you can still see the annealing marks which demonstrate it has been heat-treated for added robustness.
rWinchester donates a portion of the proceeds from their USA VALOR label ammo to Folds of Honor, a nonprofit which provides scholarships to fallen service members’ children and family members.
