This cartridge’s 55 grain full metal jacket boat tail projectile provides a combination of reliable functionality and good accuracy. Its copper alloy jacket is outfitted with a cannelure (the sole purpose of which is to create friction with the case mouth and preserve seating depth), and its boat tail increases the bullet’s ballistic coefficient so it can exhibit a flatter trajectory downrange. (We bill this as target ammo because the FMJBT offers relatively poor terminal performance for self-defense – i.e. better choices are available.)
