Upon impact with a game animal the polymer tip is pressed back into the hollow cavity which promotes rapid fragmentation of the swaged lead core and copper jacket; this visits appropriate damage upon prairie dogs, armadillos, and other varmints resulting in quick, humane drops with no over-penetration. These rounds are rated for a 2,550 feet-per-second muzzle velocity which is consistent with Hornady’s original field-proven profile.
