rMost defensive ammo is loaded with JHP bullets, which expand to (A) amplify trauma, and (B) reduce the risk of over-penetration. THIS ammo is loaded with special non-expanding round nose flat point gas check (RNFPGC) bullets, which are designed to tunnel as deeply as possible into a bear’s thick and muscular body. That increases the bullet’s odds of reaching a vital organ. The RNFPGC is nearly certain to go clean through a human, though, which alongside its inability to expand makes it a poor choice for EDC in urban environments.
rThe bullet’s gas check is a gasket at its base.
