Description
Hornady’s Frontier ammunition is manufactured at the famous Lake City plant using Hornady’s own projectiles for a powerful combination of innovative projectile design and proven military-spec 5.56x45mm NATO profiles. As a result, each of these 5.56mm cartridges features a harder primer that interfaces safely with the free-floating firing pin of an AR-15, especially as the bolt carrier accumulates carbon fouling. Each primer is mounted to the base of a brass casing that has been checked over for proper dimensions and heat-treated at the neck and shoulder for long reloadable life. The casing houses clean-burning propellant and one of Hornady’s BTHP (Boat Tail Hollow Point) projectiles.
rThe BTHP bullet is built by filling a preformed copper jacket with lead, resulting in a dense inner core for balance and a consistent outer shape that is free of deformation; this results in distinct accuracy and unmatched stability for when precision matters, such as in competition or when sighting in a new rifle and scope combination. A projectile weight of 62 grains offers manageable recoil while mimicking a very common drop table for the 5.56mm caliber. Each bullet is equipped with a toothed cannelure which helps tighten groups while preventing setback related malfunctions.
