Description
You’d never be ill-advised to chamber the same ammunition that police officers do — any cop worth his salt isn’t going to put his life on the line with a subpar round. Speer made this 45 ACP round solely for self-defense, and it lives up to their expectations courtesy of its 185 Gold Dot projectile. The Gold Dot brought the bonded core to the handgun ammo market; The Uni-Cor electrochemical process by which the bullet’s jacket has been applied to its core gives it impressive weight retention. Even when fired through a sheet of steel it doesn’t even lose a whole grain of its weight. So concentric a jacket conveys excellent rotational stability for accurate shooting as well.
rThe Gold Dot bullet is formed over the course of a two-stage process. The first determines how far the bullet can expand, while the second controls the rate of expansion. Again, this benefits terminal performance tremendously — the Gold Dot consistently mushrooms to 1.5 times its original diameter after having passed through a steel barrier.
rThis cartridge gives you CCI’s finest Boxer primer to ignite its clean burning propellant charge. Speer further provided the round a nickel plated brass casing, so you’ll enjoy better corrosion resistance, smooth cycling through a semi-automatic, and the ability to perform a rushed chamber check in the dark with confidence.
